During November it has become traditional for Alton Lions to sell a range of specially made cakes for Christmas on the regular Tuesday market. The cakes for Christmas this year have arrived and will be available on the Tuesday markets in November and the Craft market on 13 November.
A record of more than 200 entries was achieved for this year’s Alton Lions Peace Poster competition and Alton Lion President Graham Dix congratulated all entrants on the imagination and artistic quality of the submissions.
Ella Carnell-Jones, Head Girl at Treloar School at Froyle, receives a cheque for £1600 from Alton Lion President Graham Dix. The money was raised at the Alton Lions Good Old Days event in Alton Public Gardens this summer.
The World Health Organization has estimated that the number of blind people in the world could double in the next 25 years. To combat the leading causes of blindness and assist in preserving vision, Alton Lions Club participated in the Lions World Sight Weekend on Saturday 16 October.
