A party of 42 Alton Lions, friends and supporters enjoyed a relaxing day out at Goodwood Races on Bank Holiday Saturday (August 28).
In presenting a 20 year membership chevron to Lion Derek Shaw, Brigid Hendy, Lions District Governor for Berkshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight commented that it is always a pleasure to recognise individual service to Lions.
Donations from Lions Clubs throughout the world have now reached $5million through the “Lions for Hope” programme.
In spite of fickle weather the third Lions-rehab Golf Day was a great success with eighty players braving the elements to raise money for Basingstoke and Alton Cardiac Rehab.
Alton Lions President Graham Dix presented a cheque for £600 to Graham Smith of Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers (SERV) in Hampshire. The money was raised from the Alton Lions Charity Film Night showing, at the Palace Cinema, of ‘Its Complicated’ starring Meryl Streep.

The Easter Eggstravaganza run by Alton Lions has been a resounding success. As a result of the efforts of the outlets taking part and the generosity of the public they have been able to give a cheque for £1400 to Bushy Leaze Children and Family Centre.
Alton Lions have just sent off nearly 1500 pairs of spectacles collected from the people of the town as part of the Lions Clubs Spectrek project.
