The Lions Club of Alton present a St Patrick’s Day Quiz in aid of Wootey’s Family Centre, to be held on Thursday 17th March at The Alton House Hotel – 7pm for 7:30pm start.
Each year Alton Runners, together with Alton Lions, organise the Alton 10, a ten-mile road race in May and, at the start of the cross-country season in October the Downland Challenge 10k & 5k races.
At the last business meeting the President of Alton Lions, Graham Dix presented member Mike Baker with two awards. As well as his 10 year chevron Mike was also presented with a Key Member Award. This was awarded by Lions Clubs International for his work in attracting new members to the club.
Spectrek is one of the great recycling projects organised by Lions Clubs, which involves collecting and recycling spectacles no longer required by the owner to new users in need.

Margaret Willoughby wife of Alton Town Mayor David has become a Lion, joining the Lions Club of Alton.
During November it has become traditional for Alton Lions to sell a range of specially made cakes for Christmas on the regular Tuesday market. The cakes for Christmas this year have arrived and will be available on the Tuesday markets in November and the Craft market on 13 November.
A record of more than 200 entries was achieved for this year’s Alton Lions Peace Poster competition and Alton Lion President Graham Dix congratulated all entrants on the imagination and artistic quality of the submissions.
Ella Carnell-Jones, Head Girl at Treloar School at Froyle, receives a cheque for £1600 from Alton Lion President Graham Dix. The money was raised at the Alton Lions Good Old Days event in Alton Public Gardens this summer.
