Letter: U3A Thank You

Lion Sarah O’Donoghue
Alton Lions Club (CIO)

19 June 2018

Dear Sarah,

The Alton University of the Third Age – U3A, with over 500 members, all semi or fully retired, is one of the principal users of Alton Community Centre whose members attend 40 plus courses on a wide variety of subjects on every weekday. As our U3A celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year it was agreed that to mark this significant achievement we would like to present our ‘home’, The Community Centre with a defibrillator.

Unfortunately, our good intentions were dashed by rules and regulations and we were so grateful to be advised that Alton Lions Club were prepared to provide the funding for the machine and negotiate its installation. We understand that the money was raised by members of the Lions Club Supporters, so we owe big thanks to them.

Seeing its placement outside the Community Centre, we hope that none of the users and members of the general public in Alton should ever need to make use of the equipment.

Well done Alton Lions.

Steve Barnes

Vice Chairman, Alton U3A.
