Saturday 8 September saw the biggest Lions Craft Market staged in the Market Square and Cross & Pillory Lane to date and coincided with brilliant weather making for a great day all round. Visitors to the town centre were able to enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the 40-stall market browsing unique and high quality home-wares and gifts made by local craftsmen and women. The day provided a perfect opportunity to experience crafts from hot forge work to cup cake design and country crafts including a wise (and beautiful) barn owl to fine woodwork.
The Craft Markets are held on the second Saturday of the month coinciding with the Hampshire Farmers Market in the High Street and making for the biggest, busiest and best market day in the area. The next markets, which will be at least as big as the September market, will be held on 13th October, 10th November and 8th December.
Alton Lions and ‘Lyme Glass’ organise the Alton Craft Market with stall and equipment hire charges used by Alton Lions to support local charitable needs.
