Alton Lions Spectrek certificate presentation

Two pupils in year seven from Amery Hill School, with Assistant Head Teacher Joleen Riley, who received a certificate, on behalf of the school, from Michael Gwynne, President of the Lions Club of Alton. The certificate recognised the School’s efforts in supporting Spectrek, an initiative which collects unwanted spectacles, sorts and grades them, ultimately sending them to third world countries to be given to those who need them. The two girls actively promoted the collection of old glasses around all the school’s classes, adding significantly to the hundreds of pairs which Alton Lions collect every year for this good cause. The Lions ask that if anyone has an old pair of glasses they no longer need, to put them in one of the collection bins they will find in both the Herald office, and in Amery Hill School.
