Alton Lions support the Foodbank

Alton Lions have recently presented a cheque for £250 to Alton Foodbank.  The foodbank, run by John and Gill Jacobs, has been established for three years, and provides help to between 80 and 100 people a month in the Alton area.  Those in need include those who have been made redundant unexpectedly, have had a change in benefits, or perhaps a delay in benefits being paid. All food is non-perishable, and enough is provided for three days. Food can be donated at the Foodbank itself (at its shop under the Town Hall), which is open on Wednesdays from 11.45am to 2.00pm, and on Saturdays from 10.00am to 12.00noon. There are also collection points at most local churches and doctors’ surgeries. School uniform is also offered.

The Lions Club of Alton always welcomes new members. For details please contact 0845 833 2701, or visit http://www.altonlions.org.uk/
