Lots of Lions Fun and a Great Result for Bushy Leaze

Alton Lions Virtual Eggstravaganza raffle was drawn in style on Good Friday (April 2) during a special Facebook version of the Alton Lions/Wey Valley Radio Community Quiz conducted by Dean Phillips.

The virtual Eggstravaganza was the lockdown replacement for the Alton Lions annual Eggstravaganza which sees giant eggs given as prizes for a ‘Guess the Name of the Lion’ competition normally arranged through local pubs and organisations.

The virtual raffle saw first prize (a giant egg and £100) going to John and Janet Ogden, second prize (an egg and £50) to Katherine Mason, and third prize (an egg and £25) to Martyn and Sue Dell. All the winners donated their cash prizes to Bushy Leaze Children and Families Centre.

Their kindness helped raise a total of £721 for Bushy Leaze.

Grateful thanks have been expressed to all those who took part in the raffle, and to WVR presenter, Dean Phillips, and quiz writer, Alton Lion, Bill Tigg, for running and presenting the on-line event.

Over the past year, the Alton Lions/WVR Quiz has raised  £1,674 for the Alton & District Community Resilience Fund. Thanks go to Wey Valley Radio for its generosity in providing air-time and to all those quiz goers for their kind donations.
