The senior citizens of Alton gave a rousing welcome to the Band and Corps of Drums of The Royal Logistic Corps who were in town on Tuesday (April 12) to perform for the Alton Lions Annual Band Concert in Alton Assembly Rooms.
This was the 36th concert organised by the Lions Club of Alton, featuring military music played in the rousing and flamboyant style of the talented musicians of the Royal Logistic Corps and so much enjoyed over the years by Alton’s seniors.
Under the direction of Major Glen Jones, and led by Bandmaster, WO1 Justin Teggarty, the band provides musical support for our armed forces and government units, wherever they may be around the world.
On Tuesday, Bandmaster WO1 Justin Teggarty explained a little about the places they had been to in the line of duty, and also their roles as serving soldiers.
While the concert was free of charge to senior citizens, all attendees participated in a raffle, drawn at the end of the concert, which raised £200 for the charity, ‘Help for Heroes’.
