21 December 2012
On behalf of The Lions Club of Alton and all the people that Lions help at this time of year, I am writing to thank the people of Alton, Holybourne and Four Marks for giving their generous support to our Christmas appeal.
This generosity has once again enabled Alton Lions to provide vouchers, gifts and turkeys to those members of our community who would otherwise have less to enjoy over Christmas than those of us who are more fortunate.
In spite of the current severe economic climate, the response to the Christmas house-to-house collection was a record £4439. We also collected £331 at Sainsburys Store. The total of £4770 is a new record and has enabled Alton Lions to meet an increased demand.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Sainsburys, Alton for allowing Alton Lions to collect at the store.
I would also like to thank the new and regular customers who have supported the Lions Craft Markets.
The people of Alton and surrounding villages together with many local businesses have generously helped Lions in many ways at the various events organised by Lions throughout the year.
Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support in 2012.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
