Christmas Thanks

On behalf of The Lions Club of Alton and all the people that Lions help at this time of year, this is to thank the people of Alton, Holybourne and Four Marks for giving their generous support to the Alton Lions Christmas appeal.

This generosity has enabled Alton Lions to provide vouchers and gifts to those members of our community who would otherwise have less to enjoy over Christmas than those of us who are more fortunate.

The response to the Christmas house-to-house collection reflects the generosity of the people who donated and this year reached £3,290 and together with the £318 collected at Sainsbury’s Alton made for an impressive overall result of £3,608.

Alton Lions would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Sainsbury’s, not only for allowing the collection at the store, but for organising a collection of food and other goods, so generously supported by Sainsbury’s customers.

These have been distributed to families and people in need in the community, with some going to the Alton Food Bank, to the area’s residential homes, and to support the Alton Methodist Church Christmas Lunch.

The people of Alton and surrounding villages, together with many local businesses, have generously helped Alton Lions in many ways at the various events organised throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support in 2015.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Peter Bacon, President,
The Lions Club of Alton
