Alton Lions Club delivers 1st Recycle For Sight shipment to Lions HQ

A very big thank you to Mike at Scott 2 Go for donating the time and resources to allow the first shipment of spectacles to be made from the Alton Lions Club (CIO) to the UK Lions HQ in Birmingham.

The RFS shipment is ready for loading

This is part of the Lions Recycle For Sight (RFS) project, and previously we delivered our unwanted spectacles to Chichester Lions Club – but they are currently unable to process them.

So, Wednesday morning (16th April) saw the first of what is planned as a regular activity to deliver unwanted spectacles collected from local opticians and schools to the UK Lions HQ in Birmingham.

Our shipment is safely delivered

Here they will be sorted by a team of volunteers along with unwanted spectacles collected by other UK Lions Clubs. These will then be graded and shipped to many developing countries around the world, where they are greatly needed to help young people have a better future.

Spectacles that cannot be reused are recycled to enable us to give financial support to eye related projects in the UK and overseas.

Thanks again to Scott 2 Go for their generous support.
